VRH Branches
Volunteer Reading Help's branch network has developed over 38 years and reaches children in some of the most deprived areas of England. We currently have 17 branches who work with over 1,000 schools in total - and we are still growing.
Our branches in the UK are divided into three geographical areas: Northern, Midlands and Southern regions.
Why we work where we do
We believe that support should be delivered first to those children who need us most. Because of this our branches are generally located in urban areas which see the highest levels of deprivation and lowest literacy levels. Of the eight largest cities in England five currently have dedicated VRH branches and we work in the top 25% of the most disadvantaged regions in the country
Another factor which determines where we work is the number of schools in the area. Where there are more schools there are more children that need help, more potential volunteers. This makes it easier to establish and staff a VRH branch.
