Francesca Simon supports VRH
Author of the hugely popular Horrid Henry series, Francesca Simon, has pledged her support for our work after reading the Get London Reading campaign in The Evening Standard. The Orion Publishing Group has also donated a copy of Horrid Henry for every VRH book box.
Francesca is a passionate advocate for children’s literacy and says: ‘I am thrilled to know that Horrid Henry will be doing his bit to encourage children to love reading. As a past reading volunteer in a North London Primary, I have experienced first-hand what it is like for a child who has never been able to read to suddenly discover that they can and that books are their friends. My great concern now is that libraries remain open and well stocked with books for all these newly confident readers.’
Lisa Milton, Trade Managing Director of Orion says:
"The Orion Publishing Group is delighted to be supporting such a dynamic and important campaign. I want to do all that I can to ensure that all children have access to books, and, in reading Horrid Henry every night with my 4-year-old son, I have been shown repeatedly just how powerful, imaginative and fun reading together can be. We hope that the volunteers, along with their young charges, will find laughter, fun and lots to inspire within the pages of Horrid Henry’s adventures."
