Help change a child's life forever...this is where your story begins!
The role of a reading helper
VRH reading helpers are very special people – they spend three hours working on a one to one basis with three children, twice a week, in two half an hour sessions. This will continue throughout the school year, ensuring continuity for the children.
VRH reading helpers receive comprehensive training, ongoing support and resources including books and games. Many go on to become part of the school community. Some discover a vocation and decide they want to work with children. For retired people, it is an opportunity to give something back to society and inspire the next generation of readers.
All our reading helpers are different, but they all share a common passion in helping disadvantaged children get the best start in life.
VRH reading helpers really do inspire a generation of children to become confident and literate for life. And if you think you have the patience and passion to do the same, we'd love to hear from you!
